Welcome to Paros

Getting to
Paros
Most international guests will arrive in Athens.
From there, you have two main options to continue to Paros:
Flight to Paros
-
There are domestic flights from Athens to Paros
-
Flight time is approximately 40 minutes
-
Flying is the fastest option, especially during the high season
To find good prices, it’s worth checking Skyscanner, a search engine that compares flights from different airlines and booking platforms.
There may also be charter flights directly from Oslo to Paros, depending on the year. Availability varies, so we recommend checking with local travel agents or airlines for the most up-to-date information.
Ferry to Paros
Ferries depart from two ports near Athens:
-
Piraeus Port
-
Rafina Port (the closest port to the airport)
There are different types of ferries available:
-
High-speed ferries, which take less time but are usually more expensive
-
Conventional ferries, which are slower, more relaxed, and often more affordable
All ferries arrive at Parikia, the main port of Paros.
Useful to Know
We recommend booking ferry tickets through Ferryhopper, which is easy to use and reliable.
Please be careful not to confuse Paros with Poros when booking your tickets.
We will be celebrating on Paros (in the Cyclades).

Where to Stay
Paros has many beautiful areas to stay, each with its own character. Below, you’ll find two options we suggest; whether you’re drawn to a calm, local setting or prefer a more lively atmosphere, both are well connected, easy to explore by car, and close to our base and the wedding day venues.
Choose Tsoukalia and the nearby villages (Marmara, Piso Livadi, Isterni, Abellas, Marpissa) if you are looking for:
-
A quiet and peaceful setting, away from the crowds
-
Easy access to beautiful, uncrowded beaches
-
The feeling of being close to the most traditional side of the island, with charming, picturesque villages nearby
-
A relaxed, local atmosphere surrounded by nature
-
More space and easier parking compared to the main towns
-
The comfort of being close to everything, with Naoussa and Parikia just a short drive away

Choose Naoussa if you are looking for:
-
A lively atmosphere with great restaurants and bars
-
Charming streets, boutiques, and seaside walks
-
Easy access by car to beaches and boat trips
-
A central base with good road connections
-
Being just a short drive from our base and the wedding venues

Getting around
Paros
Paros is a large island, and public transportation is limited, especially outside the main towns.

Car Rental (Strongly Recommended)
We highly recommend renting a car, as it offers the greatest flexibility and makes exploring the island much easier.
-
A car allows you to move comfortably between beaches, towns, and venues
-
Most car rental companies are located directly at Parikia port
-
You can pick up your car as soon as you arrive by ferry

We will be sharing recommended car rental companies and special rates closer to the wedding, once we have arranged preferred pricing.
Please stay tuned for updates in April.
Scooters and ATVs are also available on the island, but a car is the most comfortable and safe option, particularly for longer distances and day trips.

Weather in May and packing tips
Late May in Paros (around May 23) usually feels like early summer. Daytime temperatures are typically in the low to mid-20s°C (around 70–77°F), while evenings are milder, often around 17–18°C (63–65°F).
The sea temperature in May is still on the cooler side, averaging around 19°C (66°F), so swimming is possible for some, but it can feel refreshing.
What to Pack
Light, comfortable clothing for warm days is ideal, along with breathable fabrics such as cotton or linen. Comfortable shoes or sandals are recommended, especially if you plan to explore the island.
If you’re arriving earlier or staying longer, we’ll likely be doing some hikes, beach walks, and little adventures, so bringing activewear or sturdy shoes is a great idea.
For the wedding day, there is no formal dress code. We want everyone to feel relaxed and comfortable. We will be travelling to the ceremony by small boat and disembarking on a tiny island with a few steps, so you may want to consider comfortable shoes for arrival and departure.
For those who enjoy dressing in tune with the celebration, the color theme of the day will be Aegean Blue. This is entirely optional, but a lovely way to connect with the setting and atmosphere if you really want to.
Evenings
Evenings can be cooler, especially by the sea, so a light jacket, sweater, or shawl is a good idea. Something cozy for seaside dinners, evening strolls, and the outdoor dinner party will help keep you comfortable as the night goes on.
Practical Tip
Greece uses European-style plugs (Type C and F). If you’re travelling from outside Europe, remember to bring a plug adapter.

Final Note
Paros has a relaxed, effortless vibe. Think easy, comfortable, and versatile, with room for both beach days and evening celebrations.
